Police think it is murder.
Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, Dec. 14. Authorities responding to a medical aid call around 3:30 p.m. discovered their bodies. Multiple sources tell PEOPLE that the killer was the couple’s son, Nick Reiner. Police have not yet confirmed the account.

Can’t imagine having absolutely having everything handed to you in life being the child of a very wealthy individual and why so many offspring become complete pieces of shit. What a waste of an opportunity so few are given.
…aaaand right on cue Rump finds a way to make it about himself.
Just saw a screengrab of what the idiot posted. Somehow relating his death to making Trump supporters angry. He and whoever supports him are fucking psychopaths.
If there was any doubt that Trump suffers from dementia…
Trump is now claiming Reiner was responsible for WW2; the Sphinx’s missing nose; and far worse, the Chevy Chase Show. But his sycophants are all whispering into his ears “You’re sane, you’re very sane, you’re completely sane”, so there will be no apologies forthcoming.
After re-reading it a bunch of times it seems to boil down to “if you hate me, you deserve to die” …. seem like marching orders for his most ardent followers.
Freedom of speech and dissent for me but not for thee has been Trump/MAGA’s motto for a decade now. They’re the best example of the tolerance paradox in modern times. If dissemination of media was limited to newspapers, radio, and news theaters like in the 30s there’s no doubt they would be full on Nazi if they had the opportunity.
Should DJT have left it alone this time? Yeah, probably. Should I have avoided commenting here? Yeah probably.
But if you guys all think Charlie Kirk had it coming for debating college kids, then Reiner certainly wasn’t raking in the karma points with his non-stop TDS-fueled twitter rants. Reiner was one of the leading voices behind the Russia hoax, and went to his grave believing (as some of you geniuses do) that Trump is a facist dictator, just because he dares to deport illegals, cut wasteful spending, and defend the US.
Rob Reiner spoke ill of Rush Limbaugh after his death, so I guess it’s only fair that someone speak ill of Reiner after his. It’s just too bad it was the President, since that gives all you seething Libs something to latch onto.
Now then, back to the deportations and drug boat bombings!
Hoax? Just because Stinky keeps saying that does not make it true. Read the Mueller report. He documented nearly 100 meetings between Russians and Trump staffers (and Dipshit Junior).
OK, once more slowly: who said Kirk had it coming? Lots of people pointed out getting killed didn’t make him a saint, but who specifically said anything like “Good, I’m glad, he had that coming”?
Of course it’s just a fact that Russia prefers and does better with our adult diaper spokesmodel (“Hi America! It’s Your favorite Current president, mE! In my workDay, I’m gushing shit Like a firehose Out both Ends. I count on a Couch-humper, A worm, and Krazy ‘karoline’ to keep my mouth-Shit cleaned Up. But who’s Going to cover My ass? There’s only ‘one’ Answer – depends. Yes, only Depends has what It takes to deal With my DEEP END. Thank you for your Attention ‘to’ this Matter!! Derrrrrrrrrrr”) in charge. That’s the important thing here, not the likelier-than-not chance that they helped put him there.
A lot of us are fairly conservative.
Let’s take those deportations, as an example. I, for one, don’t have any problem with mass deportations – as long as they are done within the framework of the law. In a republic of laws, one does not sweep people off the street, deny them due process, and ship them off to some country they have no relationship to. That is the kind of actions that occur in fascist regimes, so you shouldn’t be upset or surprised when people call Trump’s actions those of a fascist. That’s just acknowledging reality. It’s precisely what they are.
I also think that the deportations need to be tempered by some common sense and compassion. Do we need to deport our war heroes because their papers aren’t in order. Do we need to deport people to countries where they have no connections and don’t speak the language?
What really worries me is that the President is clearly mentally ill. If you read his initial comments about Reiner, he didn’t just say “good riddance,” which would have just been his usual hateful invective. Instead, he claimed that Reiner died “due to the anger he caused others through… a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.” In other words, Reiner’s death somehow had something to do with Trump. As far as I can see, it had nothing at all to do with Trump. Trump’s narcissism, always pathological, has now turned into utter madness.
That worries me because a mentally ill President is a danger to the USA, and to the world. A man with no control over his emotions, and no sanity behind his thoughts, controls the world’s most powerful military force, apparently with no rational adults to counsel him or check him.
Frankly, I don’t care about his ballroom and the other foolish cosmetic things like hosting the Kennedy Center. The more time he spends on those things, the less time he has to cause international incidents or alienate our allies.
(Although you have to hope he doesn’t choose to wear his tuxedo for an event near the ocean. People might mistake him for an orca.)
Immigration has long been a scapegoat of the wealthy to get the ants to fight amongst each other with anecdotes of the free loader problem, so the general public doesn’t coordinate at point out what little merit they offer to society. This comic pretty much sums it up, scaled to income inequality:
And Nick Reiner here is a perfect example of it. Absolutely had the life, I’m sure his parents probably dedicated upwards of eight figures or more to him, and he did nothing in his life except become a drug addict and murdered the parents who sunk that much money into him. If it’s a rich white kid, the narrative is mental health issues, give the poor guy the benefit of the doubt. Now if this were an immigrant and two prominent MAGA commentators online? You would damn near have a war declared on the country of origin and Trump deploying the military to a hundred mile radius to supposed fix the problem.
It’s all a scam and it always has been. We’re going to end up with a trillionaire by the end of the decade and the net worth of individuals who could fit in a grade school gymnasium hold more wealth than most countries in the world and they’ll STILL be using their Murdoch-Ellison-Influencer funded media to tell everyone in the world why the Mexican roofer making $10 an hour is causing all the world’s problems.
Immigration is a good thing. The country was built on it. We still need it. All the more reason for the people of the country to decide how many it will accept, and what skills they will have. NOT for random foreigners to decide when and how they will get in.
But of course, with people already here, their situations require case-by-case analysis. And we do need farm workers and day laborers, so I’d support granting a path to citizenship for any worker if an employer will vouch for them. And we don’t need to deport war heroes and mothers with children who are American citizens. And we don’t need to deport the “dreamers.” (In fact, I think we need to give them citizenship unless they have established criminal records.)
The thing that’s wrong with Trump’s deportation program is that it it wants to demonize people solely because they are undocumented. That’s wrong. But there’s nothing wrong with the concept of deporting those people if they are gang-bangers, people with a history of violence, or people who can’t seem to identify their means of livelihood.
Of course I can’t support sending people to a secret prison, presumably for life, in a country they have never been to, with no judicial review. There are so many things wrong with that it would take a major essay to cover them all. In short, it is humanitarian abuse just a step below genocide.
I agree about the criminals I mean no one supports crime that I know of on either side of the aisle, even though the GOP tries to portray themselves tough on crime.
ICE meeting quotas is actually less effective at finding criminals, because they’re more worried about meeting numbers and finding day laborers than drug runners. It’s even been said as much through investigative reporting a few months ago that this is the case, and again, it makes sense. When an authoritarian says meet this many numbers, they don’t give a shit who they arrest.
It’s been shown to be the case in El Salvador – gang members broadcast themselves through tattoos, and eventually when they found all the easy ones they just found innocent people off the street to throw in prison who had a tattoo. I guess no one gives a shit though as long as its not them?
Honestly, probably a good motto for everything in life – as long as its not me. I don’t blame people trying to survive, I imagine in someone living in the Congo right now surviving off nothing seeing hundreds of bodies wash up in rivers, or any of the dozens or so shit countries where individuals are the unfortunate losers of the birth lotteries, an administrative crime trying to make it – even being illegal here and working 60 hours a week for a pittance is still probably better than being starved, beaten, raped, and killed.
It’s a very privileged American view to say they’re deciding anything, any moreso than what you would decide to do in that situation. But hey, as long as its not us, right?
His cabinet meetings sound like something out of N. Korea.
You realize this isn’t 2012, right? And people can see through your use of language to manipulate?
For example, take your statement here: “I, for one, don’t have any problem with mass deportations.”
Here’s how much you “don’t have” a problem with it: You follow it up with: “as long as they are done within the framework of the law” – aka, you can mass import foreigners by gaming the law, but trying to deport them is against it. This is further followed up with: “One does not sweep people off the street” – literally neutering the very notion of mass deportations, thus demonstrating you were lying earlier, and further: “deny them due process” – continuing to do so.
No one has stopped those like you, when in power, from mass deporting foreigners according to the supposed principles you hold – has that occurred? At which scale? How many were let in? How many legal migrants were let in at the same?
“and ship them off to some country they have no relationship to” – this is especially funny, since many of the same illegals don’t have any relationship to America in the first place, and don’t even speak English in the first place, and somehow it’s bad to deport them to a different country to which they have no relationship do and don’t speak its language?
“when people call Trump’s actions those of a fascist” – quadrupling down, continuing to demonstrate that you were lying. That’s who you are – that’s what kind of person you are – and that’s why America is here to begin with. Democracy may be a shit system in so many ways, but one of the things it gets right is that politicians resemble the populace, and the neo-liberal and neo-con scum represent you to the T, the only thing you lack is being gay (not to assume – you might as well be – would hardly be the first person running a site like this while being gay).
“What really worries me is that the President is clearly mentally ill”
Good to know that you don’t believe 25% of America should be represented.
Anyway, aren’t you like… old? Like really old? Shouldn’t you be getting worried where you’re going to end up? Do you really think someone like you would end up in a place that’s whatsoever good? I’d bet you wouldn’t.
There’s a lot of deranged rambling and “straw man” arguments there to unpack.
First, importing foreigners and deporting them are two separate activities. One may favor one and oppose the other.
Second, importing and exporting foreigners legally and illegally comprise, in combination, four different things. In particular, one may favor “importing” foreigners who enter legally and deporting those who enter or stay illegally. I am generally in favor of Trump’s actions to close the borders, and I am in favor of deporting undocumented aliens with a history of violence or significant criminal activity. Beyond those general statements, everything is nuanced. I would allow some undocumented aliens to stay and obtain citizenship or a path to citizenship in certain circumstances.
Third, more or less just in passing, the immigrants who built the country up in the second half of the 19th century and early 20th generally came here unable to speak English (except the Irish, who were fortunate in that regard). Both of my grandfathers were in that group, yet they were law-abiding citizens, loved America, and raised descendants who treasured this land. They still spoke shitty English after fifty years here, but they both worked hard, prospered and paid a shitload of taxes. The point is that speaking English is not relevant to an immigrant’s contribution to the country. A person’s value to our society can’t really be estimated by the English portion of the SAT.
One thing that demonstrates the President’s mental illness is the fact that he thinks Rob Reiner was killed because of TDS, when Reiner’s murder seems to have nothing to do with Trump.
Which 25% are you referring to? And how have I indicated they should not be represented? Do you mean the mentally ill, following the previous sentence?
Yes, I am old. Trump and I both attended Fordham in 1966. That’s pretty fuckin’ old. I’d say I’m too old to be President, just like the last two men who have held the office. I’m a bit younger than Trump, and a lot younger than Biden, but still too old.
“Somehow it’s bad to deport them to a different country to which they have no relationship do and don’t speak its language?”
That’s an easy one to answer: Yes. Not somehow, but ALL how.
“No one has stopped those like you …”
Those like me? Who are they, exactly? Since JFK was assassinated, the only guy kinda like me is Trump, given that Trump and I are both descended from Northern Europeans, are about the same size (*), about the same age, are both into golf, are both politically incorrect, and both went to Fordham in 1966. There are also vast differences, but I’d say the guy in power who is most like me is Trump!
But back to the original point, the following process is fascist: holding people without being charged and without access to legal representation, deporting them without judicial review, sending them to a random country for lifetime imprisonment without the possibility of parole. You could make the argument that those things are good for America, and many would agree with you. You could even make the argument that fascism is a good thing, although not as many would agree with that. But the one argument that you can’t make is that those things are not fascist actions. They are encompassed in the very dictionary definition of fascist.
“A fascist is a person who supports an extreme, far-right, authoritarian ideology emphasizing intense nationalism, a strong centralized state, dictatorial rule, militarism, and the forceful suppression of opposition, placing the nation or race above individual rights and promoting a cult of personality around a powerful leader.”
Many people believe that fascist imperial Rome was a greater force for good than the earlier Roman republic. There is a point to be made there, although it will encounter vociferous opposition, so if you’re in favor of deporting people without due process and imprisoning them forever without a trial, just own being a fascist, ala Mussolini, and stop being afraid of the word.
* Footnote: At about 6’2″ and about 215, I am about the size he claims to be. If you saw us side-by-side, you might find that difficult to believe.
“First, importing foreigners and deporting them are two separate activities. One may favor one and oppose the other.”
… are you retarded? Oh, why do I even ask when I know the answer. The point isn’t about importing or deporting foreigners, the point is about the “””law””” and which of these it favors, including according to people like you.
“I would allow some undocumented aliens to stay and obtain citizenship or a path to citizenship in certain circumstances.”
Nice of you to acknowledge that you were lying when you said you “don’t have any problem with mass deportations.” Please quadruple down on this, too, to demonstrate I was right, and to show what type of person you are.
“Both of my grandfathers were in that group”
That’s an indictment against such immigration system, considering what type of person you are.
“They still spoke shitty English after fifty years here, but they both worked hard”
… and you’re undermining one of your arguments against deportations again, specifically: “and don’t speak its language.”
“The point is that speaking English is not relevant to an immigrant’s contribution to the country.”
I’m feeling second-hand shame at this point.
“Which 25% are you referring to … Do you mean the mentally ill, following the previous sentence?”
Obviously.
“I’d say I’m too old to be President”
Worth noting – Trump is self-aware about who he is. You don’t seem to be.
“Those like me? Who are they, exactly?”
Politically, shouldn’t be too hard to see. You know this, hence why you deflect.
“But back to the original point, the following process is fascist”
Might as well say “I don’t like this, therefore,” because that’s what these arguments amount to, the purpose of which are both to a) brand everything you don’t like as “fascism,” b) defend ideologies/etc that do it by claiming this or that isn’t a part of them, despite their adherents doing it. “Fascism” has had particular historical meaning, as a historical system(s) – given different countries and people had different conceptions of it – and none of what you cite is necessarily inherent to it, and has existed under liberalism as much under communism and, for that matter, systems preceding these, and that’s without challenging your arguments to begin with – why would one do so when you think these things amount to “fascism”?
“But the one argument that you can’t make is that those things are not fascist actions.”
I just did.
“They are encompassed in the very dictionary definition of fascist.”
What’s the dictionary definition of a retard? How did I use the word “retard” earlier? Have you ever heard of the logical fallacy known as “appeal to definition”? Are you familiar with the fact that language isn’t prescriptive, but descriptive? If I got the dictionary – maybe urban one? – to define retard as follows: “Someone being, or acting like, scoop,” and opted for referring to you as retard every time, do you reckon it’d be accurate? It’d be under the very definition, after all – it certainly is under mine right now.
“so if you’re in favor of deporting people without due process and imprisoning them forever without a trial, just own being a fascist, ala Mussolini, and stop being afraid of the word. ”
The issue isn’t about the word, the issue is that you – and those like you – use language to manipulate people because your ideas can’t “win” otherwise, and you – and once again, those like you – use -isms to justify… well, we can how people labeled as such in Europe get treated, can’t we?
I’m not a fascist, because I don’t subscribe to any such ideology, don’t believe any such system is the solution, and don’t believe “fascism,” just like “communism,” has anything to do with reality of 21st century, other than serving as mere tools to vilify and suppress any and all opposition to a system that’s struggling to remain relevant because its entire purpose is to loot the people and redistribute it to the rich, including through immigration. Speaking of: neither the world nor politics for that matter, neither started nor ended with WW2. Get new reference – or just call him Voldemort at this point. Might as well.
It will be easier if we deal with the points one at a time.
The fact that I support exceptions to deporting all undocumented aliens doesn’t mean that I’ve lied or contradicted my point about supporting mass deportations. “Mass” isn’t a synonym for “universal.” For example, saying a film has mass appeal is not tantamount to saying it is one that everyone will like. There will be exceptions, just as “mass deportation of undocumented people” doesn’t mean “universal deportation of undocumented people.” Mass means large-scale or affecting large numbers of people or things. I am fine with large-scale deportations of large numbers of people with a history of violence or criminality, or no justification for being here. On the other hand, I would give the dreamers a path to citizenship unless they have a history of violence or criminality, or have reached adulthood and can’t demonstrate a means of support.
Therefore, I am not in favor of deporting everyone with undocumented status, but am still fine with mass deportations of undocumented aliens.
When you say “I don’t want to have sex with you,” and then insist on “just the tip,” you have indeed contradicted yourself. Your “””exceptions””” to “mass deportations” so far include:
1) Not taking people from the streets
2) Not “contradicting” the “laws” whose purpose is to facilitate immigration to begin with and prevent deportations
3) Not to “deny due process” to people who shouldn’t be in the country to begin with
4) Not to send them to a country “they have no relationship to” – once again, keep in mind they don’t have “relationship to” America either – and don’t speak its language, at the same time as you’ve went on to wax lyrical about your grandfather who couldn’t learn English after spending five decades in America.
5) Not to act in ways that you, and those like you, deem “fascist,” which includes all of the above.
6) “Path to citizenship” for foreigners that the people you align with let in in the first place.
I’m sorry if I don’t believe someone who lies within every breath he takes.
“I would give the dreamers”
Is this the new euphemism for “pedophiles”?
Hell awaits, scoop. Don’t be late.
You summarized my position more or less accurately. I am in favor of the immediate mass deportation of undocumented aliens who have criminal and/or violent records, and I am in favor of the mass deportation of any undocumented aliens who have reached adulthood and can show no compelling reason why they should be allowed to stay. That is, I think, a VERY high percentage of undocumented aliens. Perhaps even a high enough percentage to satisfy you. There are only a few reasons why America might need them or want them to stay. I would allow exceptions for people needed by American employers, people who served in the military honorably (and have clean records in civilian life), and people who did not come to the country willingly. Perhaps there are a few other exceptions I’m forgetting. And of course, I would oppose deporting American citizens.
I do support following the laws. You may disagree with laws “whose purpose is to facilitate immigration to begin with and prevent deportations,” but the solution to that is to change the laws, not to break them.
I do support due process. The purpose of due process in not to give rights to people who shouldn’t be in the country to begin with. It is to determine WHETHER they should be in the country to begin with. If the courts determine they shouldn’t be, then deportation seems like the appropriate response.
Previous administrations completely mismanaged the border and created this mess. I appreciate that Trump has shut down the border, and I realize the current administration is trying to deal with a vast, probably unknowable number of undocumented aliens. I understand the difficulty of that and I support that effort, but it has to be done within the law, and it has to be tempered with common sense and compassion.
It’s hilarious you think Trump is cutting wasteful spending or making anything more safe. How much has deploying the national guard cost for a dog and pony show that most in the guard agree is a waste of time with no law enforcement training or investigations taking place? Congrats, tens of millions to displace people from their jobs, that has no functional cause and effect preventing anything but the most superficial car break-ins at best.
How much do those bombs cost as oppose to just detaining them? Spent tens on millions of bombs blowing boats that a coast guard could have gotten in the normal course of duty. Spent hundreds of millions on bombing Iran and donating to Israel for retaliation which achieved nothing.
How much spent on ICE detaining nobodies without a criminal record? Hundreds of millions wasted on grandmas and gardeners, not making anything more safe, with most people who pay taxes – (last I checked you couldn’t get out of sales tax?)
That’s the problem with you idiots, because Trump says it, you kneel over and suck his mushroom headed dick and can’t think for yourself. Him saying he’s doing something doesn’t mean IT ACTUALLY WORKS. How fucking hard is that to understand? Dude has pissed away more money than any President in modern times and run up the deficit the most in any President in history! How fucking stupid are you people?
Its no wonder people don’t mind people like yourself removing yourself from the gene pool, when you guys are so fucking stupid your only accomplishment is making the world a worse place for everyone else. Do the world a favor and take your on the next cruise in Venezuela.
You’re a compete simpleton.
His run between 1984-1992 (plus another great one in ’95) was amazing. Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, A Few Good Men are all absolute classics, even the least of that run, The Sure Thing was a pleasant enough film. It always made me sad because after that run, so much of his work seemed so angry – North gave us a glimpse of the anger to come. I was hopeful that it was an outlier after The American President, but everything after was mediocre to down right bad.
Thankful for what we got, and such a tragic end. .
In a really tragic irony, Being Charlie got some of his best reviews this century, & the only one of Reiner’s movies with a nude sex scene, with Morgan Saylor from Homeland – BUT, co-written & based on the life of the son who killed him, jeezus
I saw a documentary where the producers of All in the Family said that Rob Reiner got the part was because he was the only hippie who was also an actor who showed up on time.
Sure being Carl’s kid did no harm, but if we’re going with ‘punctuality was the main thing’, OK
I didn’t mean anything by it, I just thought it was an amusing story. Obviously Rob Reiner grew into becoming deservedly one of the most significant persons in Hollywood.
I would point out though that even with that they weren’t referring just to him being punctual but that he was a responsible hippie.
Tell you what, if Nick did do it, guy’s got the balls of an ox. If you’re gonna slaughter your parents, probably the worst crime possible, you either off yourself too, or disappear for the rest of your life. You don’t just hang around and wait for the police to come to you, with a defense like “I don’t know anything about it” or whatever. Everybody knows those two would never have done anything that forced the kid to kill them, so forget self defense. He had to have known he was throwing his life away. You don’t make Rob Reiner extinct and then go on with your life.
Just think about how long his probate will be. He probably had money all over the place in various businesses, charities, policies, IRAs, movie & TV residuals, houses (they always have more than one house), boats, and whatnot; and that’s just him, his wife also had her own things going. They’ll have to sort it all out and also find a way to deal with Nick’s inclusion or exclusion from inheritance. It could be years before his relatives get a dime, I dunno.
Wisdom through planning typically isn’t in the skillset of murderers. TMZ is saying there was an argument at Conan O Brien’s Christmas party Saturday night. The son is a drug addict who has been in rehab a dozen plus times apparently, and is now going to spend the rest of his life in prison. A total waste of life.
Agreed. He looked like Rusev at the premiere pic for “Spinal Tap II”. He had issues and his family did what they can to help him but it wasn’t enough. Although I think having him in social engagements didn’t help matters.
I have yet to see the kid smiling in ANY pics of the family. He always looks like he doesn’t want to be there. He’d much rather have been alone with his needles and drugs in some dark alley. Sounds like this monster embraced darkness his whole life, until it completely overcame him on that fateful night.
I expect like any financially savvy individual, Reiner had trusts to avoid probate.
It’s so sad that when something of great significance or tragedy happens, my first thought is “Oh shit, what did Trump say about it?” and expect the worst. Only to be surprised that I what thought the worst could have been was not as bad as what he really said.
Fortunately, the entire country will forget in about two weeks.
You forgot the part about his braindead slurping cultists immediately backing him up with whataboutdisms and cognitive dissonance. (To wit, Maga2028 above.)
No, I expected that. I did wonder if they were ALL going to go along with Trump’s rant, and it looks like even on pravda-social there were people replying to him saying he was out of line. Hopefully they do not fall out of open windows.
Hey give it time. That douche Posobiec might be enough of a dip to do it unassisted.
Trump is a deeply sick man-child and will be remembered as such after he’s gone.
We all have to deal with his mindless, gullible supporters just for the time he’s in power. When he was out of power, he was having to answer for his crimes and was on the way to spending his life in prison.
He only regained power because not enough people wanted a shallow, passive, Beyonce wannabe as Pres. Walz hollering about putting tampons in every school bathroom didn’t help. That’s not the kind of shit voters want to hear with the cost of living being so high and so many other issues affecting people’s day to day lives and finances.
History will even up the score, as it always does. Trump will be categorized with monsters like Pol Pot, Napoleon, Hitler, Nixon, and their ilk. A completely fucked up idiot trying to punish his perceived enemies, demand worship from all, and remake a nation in his own delusional image.
However it turns out: assassination, impeachment, resignation, natural death, or just finishing out his term with the nation in shambles, he’ll go down in history as just another failed, pathetic, greedy, psychopathic monster with a delusional God complex.
Mommy and Daddy didn’t give little Donnie enough love as a kid, so he’s taking out his angry vengeance on America until somebody or time or death finally stops him.
All this bullshit he’s installing in the white house, pictures and statues of himself, and renaming buildings and all that stuff, as well as his insane policies that benefit the rich and torture the poor, will be reversed & eradicated soon after he’s gone.
For now, it’s just a matter of letting the screaming infant with the magic power wand in his hand have his way, until that wand is taken away from him, and he goes back to being the convicted felon & loser he is. Or even better, corpse.
A rant, but I don’t disagree. Thanks.
maga2028 thanx for never disappointing ~ dude, you just can’t help yourself, eh ~ and when scoop destroys your laughable “premise” you quietly disappear, as per usual.
What a miserable fuck you must be!
Rob Reiner was a film director. Speaking of films, there will have to be major changes in the industry.
While I’ve expressed caution with beleiving ‘Hollywood accounting’, it seems to be taken for a fact in the industry that The Fantastic Four movie lost money despite taking in $520 million worldwide, although this is said to be partly the case on the basis that the film needed $100 million in reshoots which I find extremely hard to believe, but also that the Superman movie at best broke even despite taking in $616 million worldwide.
With those sorts of revenue, clearly there is an expenses problem with these films. I think there shouldn’t be a problem for Hollywood to keep making these movies,, but they need to cut the budgets.
More broadly, week in week out, there were films that bombed at the box office. For instance, most recently anybody see the movie ‘Ella McKay’? Anybody heard of the released in 2,500 theaters movie Ella McKay?
Whie the box office has always skewed to the big hits, this year with two weeks left to go (I believe the Hollywood year concludes as late as January 4 depending on the Sunday), the top 20 grossing movies account for 56.9% of the total domestic box office (domestic box office is both Canada and the United States,, another sign of how integrated our economies are, somebody please tell President Trump, I digress) which has to be a modern record ($4.8 of $8.2 billion.) It looks like the final box office will be roughly the same as last year’s and maybe even high enough to account for the approximately 3% inflation rate, so I don’t think the theatrical film industry as a whole is dying, but there obviously needs to be a significant restructuring.
