This is a co-production between the American production company Lionsgate and the Israeli channel Yes TV. It’s a fictionalized account of the hunt for the infamous Nazi was criminal, Dr. Josef Mengele, “The Angel of Death.”
A married couple, two survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp, are trying to leave the past behind by living with their family in a kibbutz circa 1970. The husband’s German origin piques the interest of Mossad, the Israeli intelligence service, which intends to have him infiltrate a Nazi organization in Germany that may have information about Josef Mengele, whose whereabouts remain unknown despite the Israeli investigation. To get him to accept the mission, an Israeli agent blackmails the husband with damaging information about the couple’s son.
It’s a fictional spy thriller. In reality Mengele hid out in South America. He died of a stroke in Brazil in 1979, and was buried under the name of Wolfgang Gerhard. His body was later exhumed, and the forensic examination, later confirmed by a DNA match, determined his true identity.
