There was some interest in her in another thread. You’ve probably read that she is the niece of stage and screen legend Claude Rains, the Invisible Man himself, who followed up a brilliant theater career with major roles in many of the greatest films ever made, specializing in suave villains….
I’d love to see stats on his average number of days spent per movie. Also on his income. 79 gigs in one year?
I have no idea what would be realistic numbers, but let’s say the low end is $10k per pop, which is $790K annually for 240 days work (assuming 3 days per job). That’s actually a fair amount of time and not luxurious pay by Hollywood standards.
Since he’s an Oscar-nominated actor, maybe it’s closer to $100k per job, $7.9M annually and probably more in line with what I’d expect.
I was wondering about the economics of his life. When he agrees to do a film, do the companies have to agree to pick up his travel expenses? If not, he probably spends at least a quarter million per year on planes and hotels. Then he must have some assistants to make sure his bookings don’t conflict, since he has no time to screw around with that, and it could be immensely time-consuming.
Finally, if he does pull in a good living, when does he get to enjoy it?
I don’t know how true it is, but I saw him claim recently that he just loves acting. He says he just wants to do it all the time and that’s why he’s always working on something. So that could be his enjoyment.
I can believe that. Unless he’s got a lot of obligations to pay off, you figure that he could have a perfectly comfortable life without all that work if he really wanted to. But if he’s having fun, isn’t much of a homebody, and has somebody managing all the details, why not? And every once in a while he gets to spend time on a first-class gig like The Dark Knight.
