Jeff Bridges is a star, no doubt, and would have been one with or without this movie, but his performance as The Dude, and his total willingness to embrace the role for celebrations of the film, has made him more than a star. He is truly a cultural icon. Although I am a Little Lebowski Achiever, I don’t know whether there is a representation of The Dude in the Smithsonian, but if there is not, the director of that institution should be fired.
