Buffalo Bill and The Slap Maxwell Story are classics, and most of his other roles are similar – and hilarious. He was a master of obnoxious, deadpan insincerity.

I remember him best from Modern Problems, as a thoroughly obnoxious prick whom Chevy Chase telepathically gives a nosebleed to. Just the description of that scene alone tells you how lousy a movie it was, but Dabney made it funny. He was also the guy in the Towering Inferno who tells McQueen to go plant charges at the top of the building, and that he wasn’t coming down alive.
