I always love lists like this one because they demonstrate how fast things come and go. We live in a disposable world where landfills are filled with old technology, and immense fields are filled with old tires.
Questions: How does one operate that TV without a remote? I’ve never seen one like that. Do you use those sliders to change the channel? If not, how do you change the channel, and what are the sliders for?
One more question: Are cigarette machines really gone completely? What happened to them? Are they scrap metal, or are they in the third world somewhere?
Answer from the comments:
I’ve seen where they’ve repurposed cigarette machines as Art-O-Mat machines as a way to distribute art.

I haven’t spotted a cig machine in the wild for at least 30 years now. With smokes so expensive, the guy who reloaded them would risk being jumped. And if you wanted to use it, would you just happen to have 4 or 5 dozen quarters on you? Also missed: restaurants, bars, & hotels giving out books of matches.
When I was growing up, it inevitable that, sooner or later, you were going to make an ashtray in art class. I assume that’s not true anymore,
Ah, for the good old days when a 10-year-old kid with two or three quarters could pick up a pack of Luckies on his way to a lifetime of lung issues. I think we all miss those days, and want to make America great again.
Yep. Enjoying a butt in the waiting room of a hospital or on a crowded highly flammable aircraft.
When I was wee, I had no interest in smokes, but i’d always take a free pack of matches from the machine.
Getting out of a waterbed at my age seems like a nightmare
I’ve seen cigarette machines in New Orleans bars even though they are all non-smoking now.
I was wondering about that.
I checked Amazon, all three of those hair gels are still sold, though the label designs have changed.
Cassettes are back. They are being sold at a lot of local rock shows by young bands. In fact, the last show I saw they were the only format sold by one artist. Also, we have a large Swatch shop where I live, but I don’t live in the US so your milage may vary.

I was so hip when I got an FM converter for my old car’s AM radio. Imagine my chagrin when it was stolen.
