Yup. The Met Gala is perhaps the bullshittiest of all the swanky bullshit events. The award shows and the fashion weeks in Milan and Paris are strong playoff games, but the Met Gala is the Super Bowl of swanky bullshit.

She has done previous nude scenes, but not that many – only five in 11 years, or as France calls that “Probably Amish.”

She’s probably most famous for her recurring roles in several major series:

1989-1990 Falconcrest
1994-1995 Babylon 5
1996-2000 NYPD Blue
2003-2004 24

In the years between Falconcrest and Babylon 5, she had a son.

Newscaster

In between NYPD Blue and 24, she worked as a newsreader for CNN.

Films and cable

There were two periods in her life when she did some nude scenes.

Before she was cast in Falconcrest, she made three nude appearances:

She did a nude scene in Nightmare Weekend (1986), a typical micro-budget Troma film which can now be viewed on Tubi in its entirely. Notice that the man’s testicles make a brief appearance in capture #7.

Also in 1986, she did a semi-explicit nude scene in a film called Manhattan Gigolo. I don’t think there is a good version of this film available, but Tuna made some captures from a DVD that was obviously just an upsized VHS tape. There is a non-nude excerpt online, but the quality is equal to VHS at best.

In 1988 she appeared naked in yet another B film called Hot Splash. As of now, I only have VHS captures. We may never get better images. This film is not a likely candidate for a DVD release.

The 1986-1988 films were the end of her nudity for more than a decade, as she began her successful career in network TV. There was no nudity between 1988 and 1997, but she did wear a semi-transparent top when she was out on the town on January 14, 1990

She came roaring back in the 90s with two more nude scenes that were filmed just before she landed a gig on NYPD Blue. She was nearly 40 when she did these scenes.

Full-frontal nudity in A Gun, a Car, a Blonde. (This project was shelved for quite a while. It was first seen at a film festival in June, 1997, but the actual filming date is not available. It did not appear on video in the USA until 1999.)

The Rest of the Story

Her last nude scene was on TV, a brief bit of nipple exposure in the season five premiere of NYPD Blue, first aired September 30, 1997.

She also posed naked for “(Not Only) Black and White” magazine (#36; April, 1999)

Her last public nudity was a topless photoshoot by Richardo Martin in 1999. I don’t know whether this was related to the photoshoot above.

I like Rita and Taika. They never take themselves or anything else seriously.

It sometimes seems that designers are determined to create the most embarrassing possible looks. At any rate, Emily Ratajkowski did steal the show at the Met Gala After Party, just by being outrageous.
