Unfortunately, that was the entire extent of her nudity. She did look mah-velous.
A successful black businessman, haunted by his crumbling marriage and identity crisis, is drawn into a sexualized game of cat and mouse with a mysterious white woman on a subway that leads to a violent conclusion.
This is a psychological thriller from the USA. The Dutchman is an update of a 1964 one-act play by Amiri Baraka (then known as LeRoi Jones), “Dutchman,” which had previously been turned into a film in the sixties (also Dutchman). It plays out like an erotic thriller for intellectuals, albeit without the nudity.
The play and the original film both took place in real time – 55 minutes on the subway presented in 55 minutes. The new version “opens up” the action a bit more.
