I’ve had this Brazilian political thriller sitting on my desk for what seems like forever, and I have started it a few times, but I never could get into it. I never did watch it. I picked up the timing from Mr. Skin today, and captured the nude scenes. Period.
Given that it has been nominated for all sorts of awards including the Grandest Prize of all, your mileage will probably vary. The consensus is that it is a thematically rich and visually arresting political thriller, blending grindhouse stylization with biting social commentary in a vividly dangerous, yet darkly human tale.
So there’s that.
