Acclaimed French drama, the second part of a story begun in Jean de Florette (also 1986). The two-part saga is ranked among the greatest film achievements of all time.
A beautiful but shy shepherdess plots vengeance on the men whose greedy conspiracy to acquire her father’s land caused his death years earlier (as pictured in another film, Jean de Florette).
Warning: My review (linked below) contains spoilers of some dramatic, ironic plot twists.
I would love Claude Berri’s masterpieces, Jean de Florette and Manon of the Spring (my review), even if Emmanuelle Beart had not gotten naked in the second part of the story. The beautiful nudity represents wonderfully sweet icing on a perfect cake. Both parts of the saga are rated at least 8 at IMDb, as well they should be.

It would be absurd if I claimed that Emmanuelle Beart ‘made me a man’, but between this and La Belle Noiseuse she certainly made an impression. To this day there is a place in my rotten heart that only a French woman with an artistic soul and a hairy bush can fill.
Yes.
And if you could feel anything in there that was me!
I love those 2 films and I need those films on 4K.
You know, you were wondering a while ago about careers with long spans of nudity, and Emmanuelle Beart is right up there. Her first was in 1983, and her most recent was in 2022– 39 years!– and I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw from her again.
I have her at 37 years, from Premiers Désirs (1983) to Margaux Hartmann (2020). What do you have for 2022?
A Heart in Winter is still my favorite drama, not much nudity though.
