Incredibly cheesy softcore in sci-fi trappings, AKA Galactic Odyssey, AKA Mind Breakers. Various footage was re-used from two earlier films, Brain Dead (1990) and Battle Beyond the Stars (1980).
Rated 2.5 at IMDb, which is lower than famous stinkers like Glam and the CATS movie.
The official blurb claims that this non-grammatical summary represents the plot:
After a nuclear war, four warriors from Earth awaken on a space ship. Unable to determine what purpose they are there and, above all, who rescued them, panic breaks out. The young scientist Lee and his attractive colleague Susan face the killer aliens in a bitter struggle for the survival of mankind.
Sure, I’ll buy that. Why not? I can’t dispute it because I only lasted about five minutes, almost all of which consisted of stock footage of rocket launches. I only … er … “watched it” for Gretchen.

Video. Freddy Kruger watches Gretchen have sex with a fellow crew member.

Looking up Gretchen Palmer reminded me of the short-lived HBO series Perversions of Science, which as far as I can tell was an attempt to do a sexy-scifi version of Tales From The Crypt, but failing pretty hard at the “sexy” part of it. Near as I can tell– and maybe I have this wrong– the only nudity in the whole series is from Gretchen, and seems to be just her as a random fantasy woman.
She also had a lot of nudity in the old Showtime series Bedtime, which is pretty much impossible to find.
I got to hear Robert Englund talk all about his career at a convention panel earlier this year. Very interesting dude. Apparently he auditioned for a lead role in one of George Lucas’ projects, obviously didn’t get that but told his roommate Mark Hamill over bong hits that he should try out for it…
He seems like a very kind, thoughtful man. He has been very patient with “Wendy the Slow Adult” on the Howard Stern show. (She has a fixation with Freddy Kruger.) It’s difficult to make conversation with a slow adult, and it would be easy to understand if he just spoke a few platitudes and moved on, but Englund has been willing to spend much more time with Wendy than I ever could.
I’m only passingly familiar with Howard Stern’s work but that seems consistent with what I observed about Englund. He was patient with questions, generous with his time, a tad self-deprecating and really enjoyed telling us his stories – even the ones that could be considered a bit embarrassing! Seems like an all round great guy.
My mother used to volunteer at a therapeutic riding center in Southern California with Robert Englund’s wife. She told me he would occasionally visit and he was one of the nicest people she’d ever met.
Strange. I heard it was usually a nightmare to work with him.
Only if you lived on Elm Street. He hated you if you lived on Elm Street.
