Random question: do you know about any other films where the entire female cast appear naked like in Sirens?
By film, I mean regular movies with regular actresses (like Tara or Portia), not “erotic movies” with bimbos whose only talent is taking their clothes off.
The only one that comes to mind immediately where that is completely accurate is Inserts (1975). Jessica Harper and Veronica Cartwright are the only two women in the cast, and they both got naked, although Cartwright was the only one to do full-frontal nudity.
The Blue Lagoon is a tricky one. There is only one female character, but it was played by three different people (Brooke Shields, Kathy Troutt and a little girl playing the character at a younger age). It is fair to say that the only female character got naked (or at least topless) but it was not Brooke. It was Kathy Troutt, her body double.
In Utopia, every woman got naked except Charlotte Vega (darn it!), and that was quite a few women.
In Steaming, I think every woman got naked except Diana Dors.

Take This Waltz? Might not be everyone, but all the primaries doff cloth.
I think The Blue Lagoon may qualify for this one. Brooke might have been the only female cast member.
Would Pret-á-Porter count? Although the only major nudity I can remember is a topless Sally Kellerman, the finale was a procession completely nude fashion models, including a heavily pregnant Ute Lemper.
I thought of that, but decided that no Julia, no claim.
See, I feel that’s an example of the opposite of what he’s talking about. Like, yes, there’s a lot of people who are naked, but they’re all essentially nameless extras. The actual characters in the story, not so much.
Hair (1979) comes to mind, as well as Scobie Malone (1975), which is being revisited. More recently Mrs Playmen (2025), Waltzing With Brando (2024), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Blue Is the Warmest Colour (2013) and Boogie Nights (1997).
Just google “movie with most nudity” and the first result is an imdb liist.
Only female nudity in Hair was from Beverly D’Angelo. It wasn’t like the stage musical.
No on Eyes Wide Shut, LeeLee Sobieski was underage and understandably wasn’t nude.
Pretty sure that Joanna Gleeson didn’t get naked in Boogie Nights.
Not a movie, but the main trio of the Canadian show Working Moms appear topless in the first scene of the series. Most notably Catherine Reitman.
If you walk the line between erotic movie meaning porn and erotic movie meaning sex comedy, there were a ton in the 70s and 80s.
My favorite was One Night Only, a Canadian flick that was a little more randy than the usual stuff.
Then there was Boarding School with Natassja Kinski which was fine with Skinemax back in the day but we now know is very, very spicy and won’t be hitting streaming anytime soon. (Let’s just say it could have been produced by Epstein.)
But yeah. Dozens of those. The Beach Girls, Hardbodies, etc etc etc.
All of Kinski’s early movies are available on streaming. They may not always be on the biggest names, but they are carried by plenty of services. TCM often runs movies from Europe with the “spicy” content you’re talking about. Not sure why people think these aren’t available, they’re more easily available today than ever before.
It’s available on Plex in the States! German only, tho.
If you’re not using JustWatch, remedy that. Can be used from a private browsing session, any VPN, and you can select a country to see if it’s available outside the US. Using it showed me that I can rent it from multiple services outside the US.
“One Night Only” is a masterpiece of silly fun. Perfect Timing (1986) is of the same ilk and has the delightful Mary Beth Rubens in it.
Not a movie, but virtually every female character in the show Spartacus gets naked at some point. I think the only woman with a speaking role who kept her clothes on was Varro’s wife.
Such a disappointment that she never got nude. She was in multiple shows that I watched and is so incredibly cute
La fonte des neiges which takes place at a nudist camp, so both main actresses are naked (and the extras too):
That reminds me of the indie film Act Naturally, which involved a pair of estranged sisters inheriting their father’s nudist camp. I think just about everyone in that movie is naked at some point.
Yes! Very pleasantly surprised an actress I had a crush on, Susan May Pratt, who’d been in some studio movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, wound up being in that – only boobs & butt altho I did catch in her in a short she did later where she went full frontal
I love this movie
I think that Nell Dunn’s play “Steaming”, set in a London bathhouse deserves an honorable mention for devising a plot/setting that virtually requires the whole cast to get full-frontally naked. And they do. However, the film of the play was a tremendous let-down as name actresses Vanessa Redgrave and Sarah Miles are extremely coy and each has done far better nudity elsewhere. Far better was the Broadway production that preceded it. It’s star was Judith Ivey (who won the first of her two Tony Awards for this performance). But the reason I, and others no doubt, drove half-way across the country to see this show was because it featured the very rare and still best nude appearance by LINDA THORSON. And yes, the all-caps is meant to designate a truly special nude scene featuring full-on bright stage lights, movement, not just a standing tableau, a full strip at front of stage (twice), capped by the revelation of a truly gorgeous, outstanding figure, as you might have dreamed of seeing when watching her on The Avengers.
Frank Rich in the NY Times helpfully adds: “I think that Nell Dunn’s play “Steaming”, set in a London bathhouse deserves an honorable mention for devising a plot/setting that virtually requires the whole cast to get full-frontally naked. And they do. However, the film of the play was a tremendous let-down as name actresses Vanessa Redgrave and Sarah Miles are extremely coy and each has done far better nudity elsewhere. The NY Times in its review thankfully adds: “The American Steaming contains far more nudity than the London version, but it’s handled un-self-consciously and adds verisimilitude where once there was prurient coyness.” True, but the Brits caught up a decade later when the West End revival of the play featured a totally-nude Jenny Eclair (then a major tv star) almost throughout the play.
What about Caligula?
I’d have to watch that again. It had such a large cast that I can’t say for sure whether every single woman got naked. Maybe.
Close, but not quite. There are multiple wives and schemers that aren’t in scenes with nudity. I rewatched it recently (to see the “Ultimate Cut” — not worth the time).
Follow-up question: Is Caligula the only film shown on American screens that showed both the wife *and* the husband being raped? It’s a relatively repulsive scene but the audaciousness of it has always remained with me.
Thanks. I didn’t want to go through it.
To your question: I can’t think of another example, but it strikes me that there ought to be such scenes. I was once picked up by a crazy drunken couple in Norway who asked me to come home with them and fuck them both. I not only declined, but I soon “went to get some smokes” – meaning I went full Rabbit, and ran – back to the comfortable normality of my boring life in my boring apartment. (Crazy Mona was testing the guy to see how much humiliation he would endure for her. It started out with her asking me to fuck her in front of him, then escalated as they argued. I got myself into the mess. I was making out with her on the dance floor before I realized she was not only there with a guy, but that they had a child together.)
I guess I wasn’t cut out for crazy stuff. I wouldn’t even have had sex with her in front of him. Too creepy for my taste.
Does every single female cast member have to be nude, including tertiary characters and extras? If so, then anything other than very small-scale productions likely would not qualify. I am not sure that this is what the original question had in mind. Presumably the question was just concerned about the main characters of the film all being nude.
I’m not sure what he meant, but I assumed his question to be literal, thus eliminating a film like Room in Rome, where there are minor female characters who remain dressed.
I am impressed with the knowledge and expertise on display in these comments.
And while I don’t have the depth of knowledge of some others in this forum, I’ll add my own ‘entry’: Shortbus. While some people might put it more in the ‘porn’ category, it really wasn’t, but was a mainstream release (albeit a somewhat esoteric art-house release) with a legitimate plot. The actors – female and male – are not only extensively nude, but are having unsimulated sex.
And I’d point out that some months ago Scoop provided a link to a subreddit, “extra mile” showing clips of actors in numerous non-porn films having unsimulated sex. There seems to have been considerably more films in this category than I was previously aware of. While these are “mainstream” films in the sense of being released by legitimate studios producing fully-scripted, plot driven films whose purpose is other than just to show scene after scene of explicit sex, they do seem to be limited-release art-house stuff that you would not see in your local theatre and largely involve actors that you probably have never heard of before. So they are “mainstream” in only a limited sense. Most of it appears to be of European origin. It might not be the sort of films that the original question in this thread had in mind.
I found Shortbus so weirdly disappointing. Like, I feel like it started from the premise of “this movie will have unsimulated sex”, but then didn’t really have a story to tell? It felt like it wanted to be this big ensemble type piece– like a Sexy Love Actually, if you will– of several intertwining stories with this (deeply improbable) sex club at the center. But then it didn’t really have stories that intertwined, so much as two relatively disconnected stories.
How about Dancing at the Blue Iguana? IIRC every female cast member (minus some very small parts) is a stripper and is seen on stage at least once.
Live Nude Girls?
Actually, I’m not sure if they all got nekkid.
I THINK so, but a couple of them might be more of a technicality, seen from the back when the gardener kid was imagining them naked.
INSERTS and Veronica Cartwright makes me think of a very different question, of actresses with a long career but only one real nude one… but that nude role VERY nude. They only did it once but that once was all in.
Penelope Ann Miller in Carlito’s Way wasn’t ‘very nude’ but given her previous roles, it was still surprising how much she showed.
Oh, the obvious one for me. Jessica Hecht had a very long career (although mostly in television in supporting roles I think) but only did one very nude scene in the obscure film Anarchy T.V
I posted this on another message board about 3 years ago
Most of these aren’t ‘very nude’ but some of them are
Actresses who only did one nude scene, but it was a really good nude scene
I don’t know if anybody is interested in this, but I start this to see if actresses are listed here who most people didn’t know did a nude scene (or, conversely, if they actually did more than one nude scene.) The criteria to qualify is that an actress now has to be at least 30 years old.
1.Jessica Hecht, Anarchy T.V
2.Jacinda Barrett, The Human Stain
3.Scarlett Johansson, Under the Skin
4.Penelope Ann Miller, Carlito’s Way
5.Melissa Benoist, Homeland (T.V show)
6.Kate Beckinsale (body doubles don’t count), Undercover
7.Nancy Travis, Married to the Mob
8.Justine Bateman, Out of Order (T.V show)
Others added
1.Sophie Rundle
2.Autumn Reeser
3.Jessica Biel, Powder Blue
4.Katie Holmes, The Gift
5.Olivia Munn
7.Bryce Dallas Howard
8,Jordana Brewster
9.Thora Birch, American Beauty
10.Ella Purnell, TV show
11.Julianna Guill, Pirhanna (or one of those)
12.Fiona Gubulmann
13.Allison Smith, Los Anos Barbaros
14.Holly Marie Combs, A Reason to Believe
15.Alison Pill, Dear Wendy
16.Nadine Valazquez
17.Hedy Lamarr, Ectasy
18.Julia Benson, Masters of Horror
19.Noel Wells, Mr Roosevelt
20.Kristen Connelly, House of Cards
21.Melinda Dillon, Slap Shot
22.Mary Louise Weller and Sarah Holcomb, Animal House
23.Joyce Hyser, Just One of the Guys
There’s a part of me that wants to distinguish between the ones of these that are early jobs where they’re doing it because they needed to book the gig (like Melissa Benoist) but never went there again, the ones that were child actors doing one of their first ‘adult’ roles to distinguish themselves (Katie Holmes), and the ones where it’s a mid-career anomaly, like the Penelope Ann Miller one.
OH that Allison Smith one was a good ‘un
Johansson has a second (brief) nude scene in Asteroid City.
Oh, the Jessica Hecht one is a perfect example.
FWIW Veronica Cartwright did have one other nice topless scene in 1989 in Valentino Returns.
The uncut version of The Harrad Experiment (1974) shows all the younger actors nude anyway.
Also, how can Paradise not be mentioned when The Blue Lagoon is?
… because there are additional women in the cast who do not get naked.
Showgirls, I think. Although Gina Ravera only showed her butt in an unsexy scene.
The Substance with Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley. Although Qualley only showed lower frontal nudity. The French scifi film After Blue.
I forget the name of the movie, but one of the recent fictionalized accounts of the Manson Family girls might fit.
If that was Charlie Says, Merrit Wever who played the prison therapist did not get nude (I’d love if she did)
Yes, that’s the one thanks. I looked over a list of films based on Charles Manson and I didn’t see it there. It must be a pretty bad movie.
I thought it was great, but full disclosure I thought Once Upon A Time in Hollywood was a stupid cartoon – great butt shot from Hannah Murray (Gilly from Game of Thrones), who also had some great noods in Brigend & Detroit
In Female Perversions Tilda Swinton, Amy Madigan, Karen Sillas, Marcia Cross, and Frances Fisher got nude.
But Laila Robins and Paulina Porizkova did not, although their roles were pretty small.
The Man Who Fell to Earth. It even had uncredited Claudia Jennings get nude.
Excellent comments & reccs – the Scoop-munity provides
If the requirement is that EVERY single female cast member appears nude, including tertiary characters and extras, then I think that you have a pretty small subset of (non-porn) films to choose from – basically you are talking about notional films set exclusively in bordellos or on the Ferengi home world – or, of course, as I mentioned earlier, small films where there are only very limited cast members to begin with and the one or two female characters who do appear happen to have a nude scene.
But I have doubts that this is the criterion that the original question had in mind. If the actual criterion is just that all MAIN female cast members in an ensemble cast appear nude – albeit extensively nude – then my additional nomination is for Sirens. As the IMBD ‘Parents Warning for the film states, “Sheela (Elle Macpherson), Pru (Tziporah Malkah (as Kate Fischer)), Giddy (Portia de Rossi) and Rose Lindsay (Pamela Rabe) are all seen completely nude many times throughout the movie, showing breasts, butts and pubic hair. Estella Campion (Tara Fitzgerald)’s breasts are seen when she is changing clothes. She also has a fantasy where she is shown full-frontal in a church.” I remember seeing the film years ago in the theatre with my wife and being impressed with the very undressed nature of the film. And it was a pretty good movie otherwise as well.
Not sure if TV shows count but the French show “nude” 9 ran one season to my knowledge
For a film, “The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak” … been almost 20 years since I’ve seen it but if memory servers all primaries and dozens of extras topless and bottomless.
