Wow! After seeing only coy sex scenes in the first two episodes, I was not expecting this wild romp.
I am not sure of the ID of Ollie Winter with Henry Rowley. Commenters have disputed it, I have now switched it twice, and the credits are no help at all. I am reverting to my original ID. I assume it is Olivia because it looks like her, she was credited as “Westminster handmaiden” (which this character seems to be), and I have gathered from her Instagram page that they are a couple in real life. Those two people in the scene are certainly comfortable with one another.

Caveats:
It makes no effort to be historically accurate. The authors either don’t know or choose to ignore the fact that the Saxons had been Christian for centuries before the Norman invasion. The famous St Augustine arrived in what is now England in the 6th century. Several Saxon churches still stand.
The show has elements of the hackneyed “old gods vs new gods” trope (hey, it worked for Game of Thrones), including not just belief, but also actual interference by the pre-Christian gods in human life.
If you’re willing to ignore your instinct to say “none of that could have happened,” and just accept it as a fantasy on its own terms, it’s fun.
I find it best to suspend all reality when watching dramas set in Anglo Saxon times.
