Damn funny movie at times, too.

The Hour of the Pig! Absolutely loved this movie. Colin Firth does a great job in this one, though he usually does.
Sophie Dix was also in this film. and she joined the growing number of women who have alleged that producer Harvey Weinstein sexually harassed, sexually intimidated, and/or sexually assaulted them. She told The Guardian that, in the early 1990s, in a hotel room to which he had invited her to watch rushes with him during filming of The Hour of the Pig, he tried to force himself on her and masturbated in front of her; the incident left her emotionally scarred and despondent: “It’s the single most damaging thing that’s happened in my life” Dix said, and she believes that it ruined her film career.
Another life ruined by Weinstein.
Seems pretty clear that Weinstein was a pure predator that used his power to go after any woman around. We’ve always heard about guys that do this when they have the power to get away with it so in that sense Harvey is no different. Many successful athletes who could have their pick of many women instead chose to be a dangerous predator.
What’s most amazing to me is to see how he got away with it in Hollywood surrounded by so many people with so much money. It wasn’t like everyone out there was desperate, many were very rich. And it appears that most everyone in Hollywood knew about his ways well before it came out in public. Be hard for them not to know with the number of women he went after. Yet women like Meryl Streep would thank Harvey and call him God. I can’t believe she didn’t know what everyone else knew. The rich and powerful apparently will never turn on each other as long as they prey on the weak. This is the main lesson that all of us need to remember.
It’s sad. I’m sure Weinstein had women willing to please him simply due to his power and influence. Instead, he had to turn it up to 10 and try to force himself on them. Must be about the power dynamics for him. Probably a messed up childhood.
