    1. Great movie and she looked fantastic in it. As far as I know, her only topless shot if only from the side. Maybe a director’s cut someday? We can only hope. Great wet t shirt scene too. Yes, I seem to remember it pretty well.

    2. Michael Davis, the creator of that film, used to be a regular e-mail correspondent and commenter. Some 25 years ago he gave me a lesson in indie distribution

      His words:

      Thanks for the review of 100 Girls…

      Lions Gate picked it up for distribution. I think it should be out on video in September, 2001. I also wrote and directed Eight Days A Week with Keri Russell.

      Here’s the deal on indie film distribution. Indie distributors only pick up movies they can sell with print advertising cuz they can’t afford expensive TV advertising. Distributors think youth comedies like mine can only reach their core audience through TV advertising, thus no indie distributors will pick the film up for a theatrical releases.

      Places like Lions Gate will pick it up for video and cable because it is a slam dunk to make money. Studios rarely pick up indie movies. They’re like a couple who want to have a baby – they would rather make their own (even if it turns out defective) than adopt one that might be wonderful. That’s why 100 Girls languished in distributor purgatory. I make indie films that should be studio films, not arty art house fare, thus the films end up in limbo.

      But, hey … “Eight Days a Week” is finding an audience and the cable channels of the world are playing the crap out of it. Check out “8 Days A Week”. The watermelon came before the pie. See the movie and you’ll know what I mean.

      I’m not sure what happened to Michael. He seemed to be headed to the A-List when he made an entertaining movie with a good budget, Shoot ‘Em Up, in 2007, with Clive Owen, Paul Giamatti and Monica Bellucci. It was a bold, funny, slightly mad action film.

      But after that, he kind of faded from sight, and I didn’t hear from him. He directed an animated film in 2013, and another in 2022. I haven’t seen either one. The plot of the newer one sounds wild:

      Richard Nixon solves the mystery of who really assassinated John F. Kennedy in an adult animated political cartoon epic that mixes mostly fact with a little fiction. Tricky Dick believes the same shadow government that killed JFK is now trying to off him. Nixon sleuths his way through multiple suspects and theories in an attempt to solve the mystery of John F. Kennedy’s slaying to save his own life and save the country. The CIA, The Mob, Texas Oilmen, Anti-Castro Cubans, the Russians, Civil rights foes, LBJ , J. Edgar Hoover and Lee Harvey Oswald are suspects.

      Like you, I love his early films, notably 8 Days a Week and 100 Girls.

  9. Keri was sexy as hell in ‘The Americans’ but I hate and despise ‘The Diplomat’ as a weaselly, testosterone heavy ‘masters of the universe’ pile of abject shite; much like ‘The West Wing’. I work in that world; it isn’t like that.

    2. Yes we always look to realism for an entertaining night’s viewing – NOT! I love Breaking Bad, have no idea if that’s how drug cartels & prison assasinations work, don’t care, I don’t expect a documentary
